Elementary: 1-4 Grade Program

All May School teachers earn certification in multi-sensory language therapy through Shelton School of Dallas, the largest school for students with learning differences in the world, as well as have extensive training in the research-based methods that work best for diverse learners. Our 6:1 student/teacher ratio ensures that our students maximize how they learn best with focused, individualized instruction.

Our Elementary School Program for grades 1-4 is located at the St. John's Methodist campus. Classrooms are Montessori-based, allowing for individualization and hands-on, multi-sensory learning while building executive functioning skills. In addition, all students participate in daily language therapy classes focused on individualized support in certified Orton-Gillingham based reading and writing curriculum.

Elementary:
1-4 Grade Program

Our Elementary School Program for grades 1-4 is located at the St. John's Methodist campus. Classrooms are Montessori-based, allowing for individualization and hands-on, multi-sensory learning while building executive functioning skills. In addition, all students participate in daily language therapy classes focused on individualized support in certified structured literacy curriculum.

The Elementary classrooms address the following areas of learning:

  • Practical Life

  • Social Emotional

  • Sensorial

  • Language

  • Oral Language

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Cultural

  • Arts

  • Bodily Movement

  • Executive Functioning

Elementary students have the opportunity for arts-integration across the curriculum as a way to develop the ability to see things from multiple perspectives while engaging in creative, problem-solving projects. Societies are a time when students learn social studies and science content through the immersive experience of role-play. All Elementary school students also have the opportunity to participate in music, visual arts, physical education, social skills, and mindfulness.
