Welcome New Teachers and Board Member

May School is pleased to welcome several new teachers to our faculty.

Caitlin Martinez joins us as Daisy Guranich’s assistant in our Early Childhood classroom as her former assistant, Deirdre Logue, moves into a lead teacher position this school year.  Caitlin recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from New Mexico Highlands University with her BA in University Studies with two concentrations in Elementary Education and Special Education. We are also excited to have Lynda Schmidt joining us as a lead teacher in our Intermediate school.  Lynda has 30 years of experience as an educator, and she is a Level 3 New Mexico licensed teacher in Special Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education and Gifted Education. Lynda has a special love for this school, since two of her grandchildren have been students here. We are also pleased to welcome Debbie Taylor and Katherine Mertz to our Intermediate School as Interventionists, working to support students in reading, writing, and math.  Debbie has been a tutor with May Center for the past two years. Before coming to May Center, Debbie worked as an Interventionist specializing in Autism. Katherine Mertz recently moved to Santa Fe from Dallas, where she worked as an Interventionist in Dallas Public Schools.  We are also pleased to welcome NewSong Bradley to our Elementary School, where she’ll be our music teacher. Finally, we’re happy that Jennifer Fowler, who has been a May School parent since we first began, will be joining us as our PE teacher at the Elementary campus.

In addition, May Center is thrilled to welcome Michael Roach to our Board of Trustees.  Michael is an engineer and entrepreneur who is also dyslexic. Michael holds two patents and was awarded the Innovative Entrepreneur Award from the City of Santa Fe. He serves on several volunteer business advisory boards to help foster and grow local business.
