Outreach Update

May Center Teacher Training and Community Outreach have been busy this fall! May Center has presented teacher trainings on learning differences and executive functioning at the Results Based Accountability New Mexico Department of Public Education conference, Menaul School, Desert Academy, The Master’s Program, and the Central Regional Educational Cooperative. In addition, May Center has launched a partnership with Santa Fe Public Schools and Karen Lacey, M.S. CCC/SLP to provide a year-long course in Structured Literacy for Elementary School Interventionists. May Center will also provide literacy coaching for teachers at Sweeney Elementary this school year. Thanks to Santa Fe Community Foundation for their support of this teacher coaching program.

In addition to our work with teachers, May Center continues to work with Santa Fe Public Schools to provide literacy tutoring. In collaboration with Communities in Schools, May Center continues our highly successful literacy program at Aspen Community School, and we have launched our after school collaboration with Reading Quest at Sweeney Elementary School this fall. Thanks to Rotary Santa Fe, Santa Fe County, and City of Santa Fe for their support of these programs.

Finally, we are continuing our partnerships with several schools in Santa Fe. We continue to provide evaluations for New Mexico School for the Arts and the Master’s Program, and we are collaborating with Waldorf School to provide student advocacy in the high school as well as teacher training and coaching.
