About May School

We like to think of the school as “The Learning Difference,” a place that makes an enormous difference in the lives of students who learn in different ways. In fact, differences abound here. Our student/teacher ratio of 6:1 is part of the reason for our success. We utilize research-based teaching methodologies and develop a highly individualized curriculum for each of our students. The curriculum also differs from that in most schools—in addition to standard academic subjects, we teach critical “life skills,” such as planning and organization, project initiation and completion, and self-regulation.

May School

At May School, we teach the students in our classrooms, not a hypothetical class with one size fits all expectations. A 6:1 student/teacher ratio allows us to give each student individualized instruction and support. When you ask our students and their parents about our school environment, they often speak about being “truly seen”.

May School serves exceptional students from early childhood through 8th grade, specializing in those with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, and language processing disorder.

Multi-sensory and Structured Literacy(™) teaching methods with an added focus on executive function skills are key to our teaching practices. May School instructors have an in-depth understanding of learning differences and receive continuous training on best teaching practices.

We use the acronym LEAP to describe the pillars of May School education: Literacy, Empowerment, Advocacy and Principles. Follow the links below for more information.
