ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL
Our annual 24-hour fundraising campaign is May 4 and 5, 2021! Your donation supports financial aid and our community outreach programs so that more students in New Mexico benefit from May Center's expertise and support. It takes ALL of us to make a difference for students with learning differences—ONE student at a time. To make a pledge or give now, please visit: https://www.maycenter.org/support-may-center
MAYAN CITIES
Mich and Deanna’s students have been studying Ancient Mayan cultures with a particular interest in Mayan engineering. Over the last week, students created their own Mayan cities and were able to show off their creations to peers and parents. We’re so proud of these students and their presentation skills!
TRAIL CLUB UPDATES
Ms. Trudy and Ms. Corrie’s classes continue to adventure around Santa Fe as part of their Trail Club project. So far, they have been to the Botanical Gardens, Sante Fe Plaza, Arroyo Hondo trail and the Dorothy Stewart trail system. Their adventures have inspired many other classes to go on other area hikes as well. This week, students marked their accomplishments on copper tags which were then hammered onto sticks.
THE HOOT
Overheard in a sixth-grade SEE class...
Teacher: Can anyone else use “wire” in a sentence?
Student: Yeah. Wire we here?
NOROVIRUS OUTBREAKS IN NEW MEXICO
The New Mexico Department of Health has seen a significant increase in the number of norovirus outbreaks in the past few weeks. Norovirus is a virus that causes the stomach flu. Noroviruses are very contagious and can easily spread from person to person. The number one way to prevent norovirus from spreading is by washing hands. Hand sanitizer does not work against norovirus.
If your child is experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms, please keep them home for at least 48 hours after symptoms have ended. For more information on norovirus please refer to the NMDOH or CDC information pages.
