Science: This week, students have been exploring the topics of biomimicry and invention, using nature as an inspiration for improving our world. Shout-out to Finley for using bear hibernation to invent a special watch that you can set at night and which will automatically slow down your bodily functions so you can sleep soundly!

Students also had a lot of silliness with the game, “Forced Connections,” where they randomly drew a Nature Card and an Object Card and tried to figure out an invention.

Reading: This week in Jack’s Reading Room, Ms. Clementine’s class started learning about cowboys and cowgirls. They read Cowboy Car, drew pictures of cowboys, and then played an imaginary game of cowboys and cowgirls.

Ms. Lisa’s class continued their novel study of The One and Only Ivan. Students from Ms. Ellen’s continued the next chapter in Judy Moody and created collages.

Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Corrie’s classes began creating short stories about gods and goddesses. Students from Ms. Nia’s class worked on Venn diagrams comparing two gods and goddesses, and they continued to read A Wolf Called Wander.

Art: This week, the students experimented more with clay by creating coil pots and ceramic owls!
