Owl Vision
Science: This week with Ms. Carol, Intermediate students engaged in two simulations about water issues. In the first one, they played a game where students had to cooperatively make decisions on what steps to take to save a fictitious lake town from a disastrous algae bloom. In another, students had to use landscape, plant, and soil clues to decide where would be a good place to build a new town with no river or lake, but instead had to rely on the clues that might indicate where there might be good sources of groundwater.
Elementary classes did self-directed building projects and started a rotation with the Lego Robotics kit. Students in Ms. Clementine’s class conducted a “magic milk” experiment.
Reading: This week with Ms. Connie, students in Ms. Clementine and Ms. Caitlin’s classes read two books about friendship, Tiberius Meets Sneaky Cat and The Adventures of Beekle. They also colored pictures of the characters.
Ms. Lisa’s class utilized Learning Ally to listen and read along to The Bravest Dog Ever: The True Story of Balto. Ms. Ellen’s class started the chapter book, Judy Moody was in a Mood.
Students from Ms. Nia’s class continued their novel study of A Wolf Called Wander and discussed wolves, birds, and other animals mentioned in the book. Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Corrie’s classes continued their novel study of A Bridge to Terabithia.
Art: This week with Ms. Brenda, students made fabric collages!
Around the Nest
This week, our Intermediate students participated in either skiing or our alternate program in which they went for a hike at the Audubon Center!
Ms. Clementine and Ms. Caitlin’s classes went on a field trip to Fort Marcy Park, and Ms. Ellen and Ms. Lisa’s classes had a skating lesson.
Thank you to the many parent volunteers who made this happen!
Have a wonderful weekend!
