Week Of February 1
Important Reminders
Thank you, Ms. Gabriella
Ms. Gabriella is a welcome addition to our teaching team this year. She comes to us with years of International Baccalaureate teaching experience. She has brought a number of teaching strategies to her classroom that further support learning and development of her students. Ms. Gabriella understands the importance of executive functioning skills. To look inside her classroom is to look at a model of organization.
Dream stream
Students in Ms. Trudy’s class have been diving into trout studies this week as they have witnessed the trout develop from the eyed egg stage to the alevin stage. This week they took a closer look at the ideal stream for trout to survive. They created models of a “dream stream” that included pools, riffles and redds (trout egg nests). Way to go, students!

FREE ART THERAPY GROUPS FOR 5th - 8th GRADERS
Teresa Puia has been a May Center tutor and is now working towards her final hours in becoming an Art Therapist through Southwestern College. As part of her internship she is offering two groups of art therapy this semester for our 5th - 8th graders.
Groups will begin on Tuesday, February 23, and will last for 8 weeks, skipping the week of Spring Break (March 16).
Introduction to Art Therapy
This group will have an open studio format where participants will be able to explore different art therapy techniques each week. Topics will be organic and natural to the group needs with flexibility to discuss themes as they arise.
Tuesdays 4:15 – 5:15 PM
Artfully Exploring COVID-19
This group will focus on themes specific to the coronavirus including the virus itself, social isolation, being an adolescent student and human during these times, and mental health impacts such as depression, loneliness, anxiety, anger, etc. We will utilize the power of art making to help identify, process, and work through these topics.
Tuesdays 5:15 - 6:15 PM
Interested in signing up your child? Email Bret Luboyeski, bret@maycenter.org and Teresa Puia, teresa@maycenter.org.
