Dungeons and Dragons club
May Center is excited to offer an after-school club focusing on the fantasy role-playing game, Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). This club is open to students ages 10 + and will involve a kid-friendly narrative.
Collaborative story-telling and problem-solving are the primary objectives of the game. Club members will learn how to create characters and to construct narratives that include everybody. Teamwork and communication are critical to move forward in an adventure. The only limit is imagination! (And sometimes dice rolls.)

Mairi Chanel McPherson will be the Dungeon Master for our club. Mairi (you say it My-Ree) has been playing in and running role-playing games for over 20 years. She started playing with others online when she was 10 years old, fell in love with the hobby, and has been an avid adventurer ever since.

Elementary Ice skating
Elementary students had their first of four ice skating lessons and free skates this week. Students new to ice skating practiced stepping with skates while students familiar with skating practiced swizzles and skating backwards. All students also enjoyed a team building parachute game and free skate time. Upon returning to school, one student exclaimed “I didn’t even use the wall!” when they returned from the rink. It will be great to see their growth in ice skating skills over the four weeks.
CReating Timelines
Ms. Trudy is notorious for the timeline work her students complete each year. This year students are crafting a timeline that spans from 1800’s to present. The timeline focuses on inventions and world events that had a big impact on society. During this time frame, technology and transportation played a big role in the development of our modern society. In addition to learning about the influence of the events and inventions had on our world, students gain a multitude of executive function skills as they learn to create and plot on a timeline.
