Owl Vision

Reading: In Jack’s Reading Room, students from Ms. Clementine and Ms. Caitlin’s classes read Otto and Pio, a book about friendship, and completed a corresponding art activity.

Ms. Lisa’s students continued their novel study of Because of Wynn Dixie, and Ms. Ellen’s classes read a book about Chinese New Year then made lucky red envelopes.

Ms. Nia’s class continued their novel study of A Wolf Called Wander, and students from Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Corrie’s classes continued their novel study of A Bridge to Terabithia.

Art: In Art, the students made winter scenes with watercolors and construction paper.

Science: In Science, the classes focused on GERMS! Does washing your hands for 20 seconds get rid of germs? Does the temperature of the water matter?

We ran some experiments using Glo Germ lotion, which simulates germs and can only be seen under a black light. The kids were pretty surprised about how much hand washing it takes to actually remove the “germs”!

Students in Ms. Nia’s class created marble roller coasters to explore potential and kinetic energy. They also built two types of catapults and tested their capabilities as part of their study of simple machines.

Around the Nest

Our Intermediate students participated in either skiing or an alternate program in which they watched Totoro. Thank you to the many parent volunteers who made this happen!

Please continue to send in your gently used towels and blankets for our Intermediate Blanket Drive to benefit the animals at Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
