thank you ms. Ellen
Walking into, or even near, Ms. Ellen’s room gives an immediate sense of calm. As a master Montessori teacher, Ms. Ellen knows the importance of a well prepared environment. Her students learn great organizational skills through example and explicit teaching early in the year that leads to development in independence as the year progresses. This level of structure in the classroom allows for distraction free learning time and creativity.
Intermediate Social Studies News
As part of their studies on Greece and Rome, upper intermediate students created laurel wreaths and wrote about personal achievements like earning medals in sports, learning new skills, and excelling in the art of ...chilling out.
The laurel wreath was a thing earned by Olympians in ancient Greece. Today I will be talking about what I did that I think would earn me a laurel wreath. What I think I did is place second in a fencing tournament. I was very proud of myself when I earned the second place medal and I think it would look good with a laurel wreath. Fencing matches are devised in a way where there are fencing matches before that go up to five points and then those matches see if you will get a “by” so you don’t have to compete in the first part of the elimination part of the tournament. So I must have done fairly well in the first part to get by in the elimination. There were probably not as many people as a normal tournament. I probably defeated two other people in the elimination rounds to get the silver. And that’s how I think I would have earned my laurel wreath. -Thomas M.
