Thank you, Ms. Deanna
In just a few short months, Ms. Deanna has already brought so much teaching expertise to her students and teaching team. Ms. Deanna brings life to her science lessons that make a lasting impact on her students. In math, one of the student favorites is her math tiles. With these tile activities, students solve puzzles that support their development of number sense. We appreciate all you bring to May School, Ms. Deanna!
Welcome, Trout
Thanks to our dedicated science teachers and the Truchas chapter of Trout Unlimited, we’re excited to welcome trout eggs to our community. The Trout in our Classroom program comes at a perfect teaching time for all of our science teachers from early childhood to the intermediate level. Ms. Daisy has begun her lessons on the life cycle of a fish while Intermediate teachers are diving in to life science studies. In the coming weeks, we’ll share the development of the trout as well as the valuable lessons students experience through this amazing program.
Checking water chemistry in preparation for the arrival of the eggs.
Observing the trout eggs before they hatch.
Students in the News
Ms. Corrie’s students have been astutely observing the happenings in our nation. Last week, they made observations of the insurrection of the Capitol. We are proud to announce that they shared their observations with the Santa Fe New Mexican. Each of their writings were printed in the paper. Check out their insightful observations here!
The Great Seal
As part of their studies of the Presidential Seal, Ms. Jamie’s students had fun creating their own Great Seals this week. They created the seals using symbols of what they value. Great work!
Inspiration from Amanda Gorman
Youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman has made the headlines this week for her brilliant poem recitation at the inauguration. What many may not know is that she has an auditory processing disorder and speech articulation challenges. This is an added inspiration for our students who have the same challenges.
