Thank you Ms. Daisy

“She is a miracle worker” is something we often hear families and co-workers say about Ms. Daisy.  If you’ve never had the opportunity to see her in action, you’re missing out.  The level of structure combined with the independence she teaches her 3-6 year old students is quite impressive.  She makes a significant impact on the early learning of the children she teaches.  Thank you, Ms. Daisy!

Gratitude from the Food Pantry

Thank you to our May Center community for your generosity in the food drive for Bag n’ Hand Food Pantry.  We received a thoughtful letter from the organization.

“Thank you for your generous donation of packaged food to the Bag 'n Hand Food Pantry.  Over 150 food items were donated by the May School community and are being provided to families visiting the pantry.

"Last Tuesday 171 family households, arriving in 128 vehicles, visited the pantry and were provided a box of packaged foods and fresh produce.  These families represent about 500 individuals with about 27% children and 24% seniors.

"We are grateful for the gifts of groceries and the volunteers from the May School community."

Gabriella’s class

Student’s in Ms. Gabriella’s Language Arts class practiced their writing skills this week by creating news articles.  Here’s an excerpt from one of the articles.

“...a 12 year old girl in Ms. Gabriella Masoni’s 7th grade class, has an upcoming birthday on her weekend! She’s going to become a teenager on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Since really fun places like Dave and Buster’s and Hinkle Family Fun Center are closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, she made a home birthday plan that does sound really fun and relaxing. Happy Birthday, Harper!”

 And yes, happy birthday, Harper!

TALKING TO KIDS ABOUT VIOLENCE AT CAPITOL

We were all taken back by the actions at the US Capitol this week.  Here is a great article regarding how to discuss the incidents with your children from Common Sense Media.

COVID 19 Testing + Vaccine Information

We are fortunate to have easy access to COVID testing in our state.  May School staff who are working on campus will continue to be tested every two weeks.  We encourage families to also take advantage of this free, non-invasive testing at least once a month, if anyone in your family demonstrates symptoms, or as frequently as you want.

COVID-19 Vault Testing Information

  1. Go to: https://learn.vaulthealth.com/nm/ to register. You will need your insurance card and ID ready. The system will ask you to upload or take a photo of these cards during registration.

  2. The kit will arrive at the address you provide at no cost to you.

  3. Once you are ready to test you follow directions provided to you and log in to a Zoom waiting room.  You will be joined by a supervisor who will walk you through the process of collecting the saliva.

  4.  You will then ship your test using the label provided by Vault (at no charge to you).

  5.  You will receive results between 48 and 72 hours after arrival in the lab.

Vaccine Registration Information

You can also pre-register for a vaccine by going to https://cvvaccine.nmhealth.org/ and registering as an individual. You will receive text or email updates with information on when a vaccine may be available to you.

THE HOOT

Teacher: You all can have a few minutes to talk amongst yourselves. Maybe discuss what you all like to do outdoors.

Student: Can’t we just talk about what books we like to read?
