Week Of June 15
SUMMER LEAP
Our Summer LEAP classes are off to a great start! On Monday, students from New Mexico and beyond began our online summer program. Students are taking classes in reading, writing and math. We are fortunate to have a team of teachers who became skilled at teaching online this past school year to lead our summer classes. We look forward to witnessing the growth of our summer students as they gain academic skills and confidence in who they are as learners.

We are excited to announce that our early childhood classes will start on campus this Monday, June 22nd. Ms. Daisy is excitedly preparing the room and materials to give students a warm welcome to our early childhood summer program. While some routines will be different due to COVID-19, the high quality teaching and learning that occurs at our school will remain the same.

SCHOOL YEAR 2020 PLANNING
We are actively preparing for a number of possibilities for the 20-21 school year. We are planning on the same school year calendar that is posted on our website and we are optimistic that we will be able to start the year off with all students on campus given that we have class sizes under 10.
Preparing to open our early childhood program next week has helped us plan for a number of new health and safety routines. Students and teachers will participate in a health screening each day that consists of temperature taking and observation for symptoms of illness. Everyone will also wear masks and wash/sanitize hands on a regular basis. Our classrooms will be sanitized regularly and materials will be sanitized between users. We are actively planning to utilize more outdoor space on a regular basis this fall, as well as to ensure that our classrooms allow for social distancing. We are also improving our use of Google Classroom as well as adding applications that we will use to enhance student learning in case the New Mexico Department of Health mandates another move to remote learning.
We are all anxiously awaiting an announcement from Governor Lujan Grisham regarding school requirements for the fall and we will communicate more to you once we have more specific mandates from the state.
MAY CENTER OPEN DOOR FUND CAMPAIGN: Please Give JUNE 23 and 24
"Before we came to May Center, my daughter was shut down to learning. Thank you for opening the door to her future!" --May School parent
Every day, May Center for Learning opens the door to learning for students who learn differently. In this unprecedented time, when more and more families are facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic, the door to learning cannot close. On June 23 and 24, we have the opportunity to keep that door open for students in New Mexico. The May Center Open Door Fund will allow us to provide tuition assistance to more families in New Mexico. Our 24 hour campaign will reach out through social media, telephone, and email to maximize three matching gifts. Thanks to our generous matchers, every dollar raised will be tripled.
But you don’t have to wait until June 23 to open the door for a student with learning differences. Give now by clicking below or pledge now and we’ll call you on June 23 for your pledge. Either way, your donation will be tripled by our generous matchers.
Here some ways YOU can help keep the door OPEN for learning:
Share! Send texts, emails, messages, and more to your contacts to let them know about our campaign and that we need their support.
Give! Whether it’s $10, $100 or $1,000, your gift creates a powerful impact for students with learning differences.
