Week Of June 22
SCHOOL YEAR 2020 PLANNING
We have carefully reviewed the New Mexico Public Education Department’s guidelines for school re-opening. We are pleased to announce that given May School’s small class sizes, we will offer full time in person classes Monday through Friday from 8:30-3:00. We will meet or exceed all health protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining social distance, rigorous sanitizing, and regular hand washing to help ensure the health and wellness of our community. Should the Governor issue another stay-at-home order that includes school closure, we will follow that order and conduct remote, real time classes in the online synchronized format we have been perfecting this spring and summer.
may Center open door fund
We did it! We raised over 135,000 in 24 hours! We are deeply moved that during a time of great uncertainty for many families, over 200 donors stepped in to help secure tuition assistance through the Open Door Fund. May Center for Learning is dedicated to unlocking opportunities for EVERY student in New Mexico. With your support, we will continue to open the door to learning for students, their families, and educators across New Mexico. We look forward to walking through that door together.
Thank you for being the key to our success!
A PEEK INTO MS. MEGAN’S WRITING CLASS
Students in Ms. Megan’s writing class are practicing sentence structure and parts of speech. In order to help keep students engaged, she uses a mixture of paper/pencil work, uses Google Jamboard so students can move words around to build sentences and introduces silly photos for students to use as sentence starters.

Early Childhood
One of the best comments we heard all week was from a returning student who exclaimed, “I’m just so happy to be with my friends again!” We are just as excited to have our youngest students back on campus this week. The new routines of handwashing, temperature checks and wearing masks have become the new norm for our early childhood students. We’re proud of how quickly they have adapted and led the way for what school will look like for all of our students in the fall.
