Exploring Nature
This week, Ms. Melia provided a captivating lesson to our youngest students on the parts of a flower. They practiced new vocabulary, matching vocabulary to the parts of a flower and closely examining flowers with magnifying glasses. It was great to witness the wonder of the children through this lesson.
Lest we (Never) Forget
As part of their studies of WWI, students in Ms. Trudy’s class learned that November 11th (Veteran’s Day in the USA) is Remembrance Day in most of Europe and across the World in countries that fought in the "war to end all wars.” Hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month”. After the war, where 20 million people lost their lives, poppies grew in some of the fields that were once WWI battlefields. Now, each year, people wear poppies to commemorate the lives lost in the war. Students created a poster of poppies to culminate their WWI studies.
