Art: This week, Ms. Brenda taught the students to draw and paint desserts inspired by Wayne Thiebaud. Students also continued to finish their sculptures and Coraline dolls.
Science: This week, students from Ms. Lisa, Ms. Jennifer, and Ms. Corrie’s classes learned about energy transfer, explored chain reactions by playing Mousetrap, and built their own chain reaction contraptions. Ms. Clementine, Ms. Caitlin, and Ms. Ellen’s classes investigated gravitational energy and energy transfer by creating their own roller coasters, bumper coasters, and marble runs.
Reading: Ms. Clementine, Ms. Caitlin, and Ms. Ellen’s classes read fall stories such as “Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf” and “The Leaf Thief” and began creating Autumn Books. Ms. Lisa’s class continued a novel study of Because of Wynn Dixie, and the Intermediate students continued their reading of Coraline.
