Gratitude

In the spirit of giving thanks, students in Ms. Deanna’s shared some of the things they are thankful for.

What are you thankful for?

river Trip

Above: May School scientists sampling water from the Santa Fe River.

Ms. Trudy’s science students visited the Santa Fe river with River Source through their Watershed Watch program.

Students conducted water chemistry to check for phosphorus, nitrates, and dissolved oxygen in the river. They took the water temperature and checked the pH level, the turbidity, and the conductivity, which can indicate the amount of dissolved solids in the water. Additionally, these student-scientists identified some benthic macroinvertebrates. (Try saying that three times quickly!)

All of these things students will monitor on the Santa Fe River regularly in the spring, both above town at Cerro Gordo and below the waste water treatment plant near La Cienega.
