Election Day | Tuesday, November 5 (School and Administrative offices closed)

Learning Differences Overview & Simulation | Tuesday, November 19, 5:30–7:00 pm

See the world through a May Center student’s eyes. This is a powerful opportunity for families, educators, and community members to understand what it is like to have a learning difference in a typical classroom setting.

Poetry + Pie | Friday, November 22

Come watch as the students recite poems! Then, stick around for pies after the presentation. Please BYOP—Bring Your Own Pie—to share! Grandparents and extended family welcome to attend.

  • 9:15–10:30 am: Elementary classes presentations and pies

  • 11:00 am–12:00 pm: Intermediate classes presentations and pies

Owl Vision

Science: This week with Ms. Carol, students from Ms. Ellen and Ms. Caitlin’s classes dissolved ghosts. Ms. Lisa’s class finished their circuit bat projects, and Ms. Clementine’s class conducted marshmallow microwave science. The Intermediate students studied gravitational energy and energy transfer by working with marble coasters.

Art: This week, Ms. Brenda taught the students how to turn shapes from 2D into 3D. They also made plaster forms by creating figures out of tin foil and covering them in plaster.

Reading: In Jack’s Reading Room, Ms. Connie read Halloween stories and taught a Halloween song to students in Ms. Clementine, Ms. Caitlin, and Ms. Ellen’s classes. Ms. Lisa’s class continued a novel study of Because of Wynn Dixie, and the Intermediate students continued their reading of Coraline.

Around the Nest

A big thank you to the parent volunteers who helped the students decorate the halls for Halloween!

Thank you so much to the May Families Committee and all May Center parents for making our first Trunk or Treat a huge success!

Have a wonderful long weekend!
