Join us for Game Night on Friday, October 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Intermediate wing.  A pizza dinner will be available for a suggested $3 donation. Be sure to RSVP to community.builders@maycenter.org

Parent conferences will be held on Friday, November 1st. If you need to confirm your conference time, Elementary parents may reach out to your child’s teacher and Intermediate parents may reach out to Patty, patty@maycenter.org.

SAVE THE DATE

Poetry and Pie will be held on Friday, November 22, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Students are already preparing by memorizing lines and creating costumes for this exciting event. We can’t wait to see it all come together!

Students will be bringing home a form to receive addresses of grandparents in order to mail personalized invitations to family members.  If a child does not have a grandparent we invite them to send an invitation to a VIP in their life. Please return these forms to school as soon as possible.

SPIRIT WEEK AND HALLOWEEN

School spirit week is the week of October 28th.  Here’s the schedule of themes:

  • Monday, October 28: Pajama Day

  • Tuesday, October 29: School Color Day - wear green and white

  • Wednesday, October 30: Crazy Hair Day

  • Thursday, October 31: Halloween Costume Day

We love celebrating Halloween with your children! Students are invited to come to school in costume. Any weapon props must stay at home. If your child may become uncomfortable in their costume during the day please send a change of clothes.

On Halloween students will start the day by showing off their costumes to the school in an all-school assembly. The day will conclude with a Halloween carnival. Thank you to those who have agreed to bring yummy snacks to help make our annual event a success!

STARGAZER

Have you ever entered an inflatable dome for a virtual experience of the night sky and our solar system? Thanks to a generous parent, our first through eighth graders did yesterday.   Students were up close and personal with the solar system in the Stargazer exhibit at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum. Teachers enjoyed witnessing the excitement and wonder of the children as they took in the planetarium experience.

Math: The may way

When learning a new math concept, many students benefit from the use of manipulatives, such as blocks or beads that represent quantity. At May Center we use manipulatives to allow students a hands-on experience, which helps in visualizing a concept. Students then practice transferring this concrete knowledge to more abstract paper-and-pencil exercises.
