Owl Vision
Science: This week in Ms. Carol’s class, Elementary students experienced the power of water by dissolving Skittles. They also engineered aluminum foil boats and tried to see how many pennies they could hold before sinking. Some crazy records were made–200, 274, and 365! Finally, they experimented with apples before making applesauce.
Intermediate students began an exploration of the periodic table by singing the Periodic Table Song, building model atoms and model Lego compounds, and playing Periodic Table Battleship. Here is the link to the Periodic Table Song if you want to practice at home!
Art: In Ms. Brenda’s class, the students continued their work on creating cartoon characters, making leaf print rubbings and cardboard heads!
Reading: In Ms. Connie’s class, the younger students read Owl Moon by Jane Yolan and cut out and colored owl pictures. The older students continued to write their Letter to the Editor of The New York Times regarding what to do with the country’s excess pennies.
Assembly
Every Friday, the Intermediate classes are participating in Assembly, during which they practice and develop social skills, group work, and public speaking. Last Friday, we played a social bingo game to get to know each other better. We are also working on adapting the practice of greeting each other by name and through played games.
Around the Nest
Lots of fun was had with Fairies, building, and hide-and-seek.
