Pet parade

Join us for a 90+ year tradition on Saturday, September 7th! The Santa Fe Fiesta’s Pet Parade welcomes furry friends and children (with parents) to walk in this parade.  May Center’s theme this year is school spirit. Go wild with green and white and get creative with our owl mascot.

Line up in the parking lot of the former St. Francis School (227 E. Alameda) between 8:15 and 8:30.  Parade begins at 9:00.

A SNEAK PEAK AT ART

This week in art, Ms. Marjorie began class with our Pre-K through 4th graders by reading The Dot by Peter Reynolds. This book follows one child’s journey from believing she cannot “do art” to realizing she is an artist.  You can check out a read aloud of the book here. She then introduced students to pointillism and allowed them to explore their own work using pointillism techniques.

Under the guidance of Amy and Tom Miller our Intermediate students explored the many uses of paper and a variety of paper folding techniques. The lesson concluded with a student favorite of creating paper water balloons.

School Safety

Per state guidelines, all students will be participating in fire, evacuation, shelter-in-place and lock down drills within the first month of school.  If you have questions concerning these drills please contact Stephanie Binkley, stephanie@maycenter.org or 983-7407.

Thank you

Thank you to our May School community for helping make both our Open House and Back- to- School picnic huge successes. What a great way to start the year! We look forward to many more fun community events throughout the year.

Tea with the Teacher

Join us for Tea with the Teacher on September 18th at 6:00. This parent only event allows you to connect with your child’s teacher and learn more about the details of their day. Intermediate teachers will be able to walk through their child’s schedule and meet each of the teachers. Light snacks and beverages will be served.
