life cycle of a star

Star_Life_Cycle_2021_09_24_A.jpg

Students in Ms. Ellen's class are continuing their studies on stars.  This week, they learned about the life cycle of a star.  Students drew and labeled each step in the life cycle.

This lesson supports development of scientific vocabulary, sequencing events and the ability to create a model of new information.

Did you know that large stars burn their fuel more quickly and may only last a few hundred thousand years, while small stars can burn for several billion years??

planners

All students in 1st - 8th grades are practicing how to use planners.

Younger students use planners as a way to practice sentence writing and to be able to communicate with family members about their day.  Older students not only write a phrase about what they did in each class, but also note any homework that they have for the evening.

Practicing the skill of writing in a planner, taking it home, and bringing it back with a parent signature each day is one way in which we support executive functioning (EF) development in all of our students.

You'll learn more about planners … and other daily activities ... at our Tea with the Teacher event next Thursday!
