Week Of September 21
Parent Day
What a great turn out for Parent Day this week! Thank you, families, for taking time out of your day to join our classes. The teachers and students enjoyed having the opportunity to share their class time with you. While it’s not our ideal way to bring our community together, we’re grateful for the technology that makes it possible.
ARCHEOLOGICAL DIGS
Intermediate students have been learning about historians, archaeologists and nomads. Students in Ms. Corrie and Ms. Mich’s classes brought in artifacts from a given time period. Many students used their crafting skills to make their own artifacts. They had the opportunity to bury their objects and to have other classmates go on an archeological dig to find the objects and guess the time period in which the object came from. What a great way to actively engage in learning!
NARRATIVE WRITING ON JAMBOARD
The Google Jamboard app continues to be a favorite tool for students and teachers alike. This week, Ms. Jamie’s language arts students used Jamboard to write creative narratives.
Jamboard helps students organize their work and allows a teacher to provide real-time feedback while working online.
YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS
Students in Ms. Daisy’s class are well into their academic year and are particularly enjoying their time with math. Students are presented with Montessori materials when introduced to a new math topic. These materials help students deepen their understanding of the new concept by providing a visual representation of the concept that allows a student to explore and manipulate.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM
One takeaway from everyone moving to online school last spring was how supportive Google Classroom can be in any teaching environment. By posting assignments on Google Classroom, students and teachers can collaborate on classwork, share resources, and build proficiency with technology.

THE HOOT
When leaving recess, “I gotta go. I can’t miss my Wild Reading time!”
“Ms. Daisy, you are frustrating me!” - 3 yr old after being redirected by Ms. Daisy.
FLU SHOTS
CDC: Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever during 2020-2021 to protect yourself and the people around you from flu, and to help reduce the strain on healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is information from the CDC regarding flu shots.
